Navjaat Suraksha Yojana
In Rajasthan, infant mortality rate is 35 deaths per 1000 live births. As per the National Family, Health Survey conducted in the year 2015-16 the infant mortality rate in Rajasthan is 41 deaths per 1000 live births. With the aim to decrease the infant mortality rate the government of Rajasthan has launched “Navjaat Suraksha Yojana”. This scheme was launched on 9th February 2020 by the Health Minister Rahul Sharma, Department of Medical Health & Family Welfare, Government of Rajasthan while attending a conference of kangaroo mother care at JK Lon Hospital in Jaipur.

Kangaroo Mother Care
Kangaroo Mother Care is a health care technique of neonates. As per this technique, continuous skin-to-skin contact is required between the mother and her baby. It is a powerful, easy-to-use method to promote the health and well-being of infants. Moreover Kangaroo Mother Care technique initiative of a natural incubator of exclusive breast milk feeding to keep the baby healthy. The state government has decided to promote this technique as much as possible to reduce the infant mortality rate and also include it in Niroge Rajasthan Campaign which has been already started.
This technique is very effective and low cost which is highly practical & potential to save millions of lives. This technique is not yet fully utilized. The state government has decided to provide a proper guideline of this technique to the medical professionals of the state and nursing staff.
