MIEWS (Market Intelligence and Early Warning System) Portal has been launched on 26th February 2020 by the Union minister of FPI to monitor the price of the top crop. This portal is the first of its kind platform for real-time monitoring of the price and generates alert simultaneously for intervention under operation green scheme. Whats is Operation Green?

Operation Green Scheme was announced during the union budget 2018- 2019 to raise agri-logistics, processing facilities and professional management and farmer producer organizations. This scheme was announced with an outlay of Rs.500 crores. To fulfil the objectives of the scheme two-pronged strategy are followed by the FPI. Name of these strategies are Price stabilisation measures (for short term) and integrated value chain development projects (for long term). The objectives of the scheme are

  • To enhance the value realization of TOP farmers by targeted interventions
  • To strengthen TOP production clusters, FPOs and linking/connecting them with the market
  • For Stablizing the TOP crop price for producer and consumer by proper production planning and introduction of dual-use varieties
  •  
  • Reduction in post-harvest losses is also an objective of this scheme which will be made possible by the creation of farm gate infrastructure, development of suitable agro-logistics, and creation of appropriate storage capacity linking consumption centres
  • Another objective of this scheme is to increase in food processing capacities and value addition in the TOP value chain with firm linkages with production clusters.
  • Collect and collate real-time data on demand and supply and prices of TOP crops market intelligence network will set up under this scheme.
