This yojana was started in the year 2012 by the then Health Minister of Maharashtra with the name Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana which was later turned in to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana by the present central government of the country. The scheme was started earlier in 8 districts in 1st phase but was later expanded to 28 districts of Maharashtra due to enormous success. Under this yojana, various health insurances are given for treatment to the people of the state.
