Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan Yojana 2020
Dr. Harsh Vardhan Union Health and Family Welfare Minister has launched Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan Yojana along with state health ministers on 10th October 2019. During the 13th Conference of Central Council of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi, this scheme has been launched with the aim to reduce the maternal and infant mortality rates of the country. Under this scheme, pregnant women and newborn sick baby will get the up to 6 months’ free healthcare benefit which includes
- At-least 4 antenatal check-ups which includes 1 checkup during 1st trimester, at-least 1 checkup under PM Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan,
- Iron Folic Acid supplementation,
- Tetanus Diptheria injection and other components of comprehensive ANC package
- Six home-based newborn care visits.

Suman Scheme Significance
The main aim of the SUMAN scheme is to reduce the maternal and infant mortality rates in the country and to stop all preventable maternal and infant deaths. This scheme facilitates the mother and infant several healthcare benefits which is required for them. This will give a stress-free experience to the mother and newborns. The government ensures that they will provide respectful care with privacy and dignity along with with early initiation and support for breastfeeding, zero dose vaccination and free and zero expense services for sick newborns and neonates.
Suman Yojana 2020
In India, the maternal mortality rate has declined from 254 per 1,00,000 live births in 2004-06 to 130 in 2014-16 and Between 2001 to 2016 infant mortality rate came down from 66 per 1,000 live births to 34, as per the government report. To reduce the mortality rate, the Central government has started this scheme. As per the World Health Organization (WHO) defines the quality of care for mothers and newborns, health services will be provided.
How to Register In Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan Yojana
The Central Government will accept Application Form in Online and Offline mode. But at this time there is no official notification regarding to the inclusion of beneficiary has not been released by the Government of India. Under the Suman Yojana in the future, all public government hospitals will provide the facility of registration.
