As per the powers conferred by section 3 of Census Act, 1948 the Central Government of India has announced that the census of the population of India shall be taken during the year 2021. Census will be conducted in various parts of the country for collecting data from households. NPR 2020 Time Table
15th Indian census was taken in the year 2011. As per the 15th census in India population was 121 crore, with the number of houses being 24 crores. Now, Census of India 2021 is the 16th Indian Census going to take place during the year 2021. Census will be done in two phases. In the first face counting of houses will be done and in second phase counting of the population will be done. As per the sources, data collection will be made by the 330,000 enumerators by using their own smartphones and at some places manually.

Features of National Population Register Schedule
Data collection questionnaire has been prepared in 18 languages. During the census information provided by the respondent will remain confidential. The census, any person can add their name in a self-declaration manner. In a press conference, Union minister announced that the census will take place in 640 districts, 5,924 revenue divisions and 7,933 towns across the country simultaneously. In this census, 6,40,932 villages is going to be covered. All the states need to carry out the survey and have to follow the Civil Registration System to record details of births and deaths.

Application Procedure
Updating the existing NPR database by verifying the details of all residents by conducting a house to house enumeration by the enumerator and detailed registration procedure is not yet disclosed. We will update the detailed procedure as released by the government.
