ceir.gov.in portal launched by Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on 30th December 2019. Since 2017 Department of Telecommunications is working on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) Portal. This portal is designed to report of lost mobile phones and track them too. This portal will help the citizen to track the mobile phone who lost it or theft by someone. Safety and security of the mobile phone are very crucial and this initiative of the government will help 50 million people. A Centre for Development of Telematics has developed a system to block missing phones.

Track Your Lost Mobile Phone

This portal is connected with the IMEI database of all the mobile operators. Users can block the IMEI number of the lost mobile phone. This will lead to blocking the device. IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is the 15 digits unique identity number of mobile phone. Later when the user found the mobile phone he/ she may unblock IMEI too.

Block a Lost/ Stolen Device

You may block the lost or stolen device by three methods:

  • First Via official website
  • Second Via TSP’s specified customer outlets
  • Third Via State Police

Documents Required For ceir.gov.in

  • FIR Copy
  • Invoice of Mobile
  • Photo ID proof (Aadhar card, driving license, voter card, etc.)

Procedure to Block a Lost/ Stolen Mobile at ceir.gov.in

  • File a lost complaint first with the nearby police station and keep a copy of FIR with you
  • Get a duplicate SIM Card of the same number you were using from your telecom service provider
  • Now go to the Official website of the CEIR.
  • From home page go to the “CEIR Services” option in the menu bar
  • From the drop-down list click “ Block stolen/ lost mobile” option

  • Now fill all the details in the form and upload the required documents
  • Submit the application and take a print out of it.

Procedure to Unblock Find Mobile

  • Go to the official website of the CEIR which is “https://ceir.gov.in/Home/index.jsp#”
  • From home page go to the “CEIR Services” option in the menu bar
  • From drop-down list click “ Unblock found mobile” option
  • Now enter your request ID, the mobile number you provide while blocking and mobile number for OTP.
  • Now click GET OTP option and enter the OTP
  • Submit the request.

Procedure to Check Request Status:

  • Go to the official website of the CEIR which is “https://ceir.gov.in/Home/index.jsp#”
  • From home page go to the “CEIR Services” option in menu bar
  • From the drop-down list click “ Check request status ” option
  • Enter the request ID and click submit option
