Cabinet also approved the 4G Spectrum on an administrative allocation.
Objective of BSNL Voluntary Retirement Scheme
This scheme has been announced for the employees who attained the age of 55 years and 31 years’ service within the organization. The main aim behind the VRS is to reduce the workforce around 15000 at present. This scheme will provide benefits to around 1 Lakh employees out of 3 Lakh employees of BSNL. This move of the government is welcomed by the employees of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd but employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd oppose the VRS. The reason behind the opposing of BSNL staff is the fear of job loss. The employees of BSNL thinks that this will not going to give benefit to them much in some manner.
Employees who wish to avail the benefits of this scheme must have the following:
- 31 years of total service in the organization
- Attained age of 55 years
